S. Brent Plate

S. Brent Plate, who is visiting associate professor of religious studies, at hamilton college, New York. Professor Plate is the Managing Editor and Co-Founder of the journal Material Religion, and has written or edited many books concerning religion and materiality, and – obviously – on religion and film, including Religion and Film: Cinema and the Re-Creation of the World, The Religion and Film Reader, Re-Viewing The Passion: Mel Gibson's Film and Its Critics and Representing Religion in World Cinema: Filmmaking, Mythmaking, Culture. His most recent work is A History of Religion in 5½ Objects: Bringing the Spiritual to Its Senses, published by Beacon Press in 2014.
