Martin Bürgin

Martin Bürgin studied History, the Study of Religion, and Political Science at the University of Zurich and Humboldt University of Berlin. He worked as a Research Fellow at the Chair of History of Old Catholicism and Ecclesiastical History at the University of Bern and was a Fellow of the Leo Baeck Institute for the Study of German-Jewish History and Culture in London. Since autumn 2013 he has been with the Department for the Study of Religions at the University of Zurich, where he teaches and is pursuing his doctoral research on the so called "Plum War", an anti-Jewish pogrom that took place in Endingen and Lengnau on 21st September 1802. Together with Philipp Hetmanczyk he initiated the cross-disciplinary GRC Peer Group for Religion and Politics at the University of Zurich.
