‘Managing Student Field Visits & Study Tours in the Study of Religion’

This is an HEA Subject Centre for Philosophical and Religious Studies Funded Event

 A Free One-Day Workshop at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham

Saturday 10th March 2012 10.30-4.00pm

Speakers include:

  • Denise Cush (Bath Spa)
  • Dominic Corrywright (Oxford Brookes)
  • Lynn Foulston (University of Wales, Newport)
  • Lynne Scholefield (St Mary’s)
  • Stephen Gregg (University of Wales, TSD)

This Workshop aims to:

  • Share Best Practice between HEIs who currently undertake field visits and study tours as a part of their undergraduate /taught postgraduate curriculum
  • Introduce HEIs who are expanding this part of their curriculum to the positives and negatives of managing field visits and study tours
  • Discuss methods of assessment relevant to field visits and study tours
  • Address the various ways in which field visits and study tours are embedded in wider on-campus ‘traditional’ curriculae
  • Highlight the importance of Social Networking/New Media/TEL for off-campus studying
  • Discuss opportunities for partnership working between HEIs
  • Launch the ‘Learning outside the Lecture Theatre’ virtual research network

This is a free event, but we request that attendees register before 2nd March by emailing Sam Chant on samantha.chant@smuc.ac.uk.

Light refreshments provided – lunch will be available in the University cafeteria at attendee’s own cost.
